ACQUISITION OF DIGITAL RESOURCES OVERVIEW

Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools (CMS) is responsible for protecting student data. Vendors will need to provide proof that student and staff data will be protected before CMS contracts or purchases software from third-party companies. Applications requiring access to student data are evaluated through the process linked below.

January 1, 2024
- January 1, 2024, marks a change in how Charlotte Mecklenburg Schools will engage with vendors for using and purchasing software, hardware, and applications (including free apps).
- Digital resources that have been purchased by the school and have a contract signed before January 1, 2024, will not have to meet the new requirements for the 2023-2024 school year. All purchases after January 1, 2024, will need to meet the requirements as outlined on the Digital Resources Approval Process page.

January 26, 2024
- The deadline for blocking Google Workspace apps and extensions that have not gone through the Digital Resources Approval Process is January 26, 2024.
- This means that staff and students will lose access to Google apps and extensions that share student/staff data through a login with Google single sign-on. Employees and vendors can click the buttons below for more information.
