Carla Chambers Stanback

Recruiter - Elementary, Exceptional Children, English Learners and Media Coordinators

Carla's roots run deep in the Charlotte community as she is CMS graduate of West Charlotte HS!  After graduating from Tufts University in Boston, she worked in New York City and eastern NC before returning to Charlotte in 1998. She has 20 years of HR experience as a generalist, manager, and recruiter in both the public and private sectors. Carla started her career in CMS in the classroom and now serves as a recruiter. Carla's family has been actively involved in the rapid growth and development of the Queen City since the 1960’s.

Kennedy Barkley Jr.

Recruiter - Secondary Education - K-12 Licenses

Kennedy is a native of Charlotte, North Carolina who completed his schooling through CMS. Upon graduation from Myers Park High School, Kennedy attended North Carolina Central University where he received his Bachelor of Arts in History and received his master's degree from Indiana University in Higher Education and Student Affairs. Kennedy is currently responsible for recruiting secondary education. His passion for the youth and creating opportunities for others has brought him to recruiting and Talent Acquisition. His goal is to recruit the best and brightest teachers who will make an instant impact in the Charlotte Mecklenburg School system.

Nautica Butler

 
Recruiter - Student Teachers, Elementary Education
 
Nautica Butler is originally from Jacksonville, NC and moved to Charlotte in 2018. Nautica holds a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology from East Carolina University and a Master's degree in Elementary Education from Western Governors University. She is currently pursuing a Master’s in Business Administration from the University of North Carolina- Wilmington. With 5 years of experience in the classroom, she brings a unique perspective to her role as a recruiter, understanding the importance of finding the right educators to shape the future. Nautica’s journey from teaching to recruiting has been driven by a desire to continue impacting education, albeit from a different angle.

Kristen Hoyt

Program Manager-Talent Acquisition Pipeline

Kristen is originally from Niagara Falls, New York and moved to North Carolina over 25 years ago.  She is a lifelong educator and has served students in Wake, Cabarrus and Rowan counties before settling into life with Charlotte Mecklenburg Schools.  She holds a bachelor's degree in social studies and Secondary Education from D’Youville University and a master's degree in Educational Leadership from UNC-Charlotte.  Her career has been spent working with students of all ages and, most recently, her focus as a school administrator has led her to a passion for recruiting and retaining high quality teachers for every CMS classroom.

Jason Rettinger

Jason is originally from Pittsburgh, PA and has also lived in Indian Rocks Beach, Florida and Columbus, Ohio prior to moving to the Charlotte area in 2020. Jason graduated from Ohio University in Athens, Ohio and brings over 15 years of human resources and recruitment experience to CMS. His goal is to bring to light the CMS Teaching Residency program and provide a unique opportunity for individuals who are passionate about education to gain hands-on experience in the classroom.

Christine Smith

Recruiter - Alternative License

Christine is a North Carolina native.  She has a B.S. Degree in Administrative Management from Clemson University.  She has served CMS in a variety of positions ranging from school-based positions to Human Resources, which has given her in-depth knowledge pertaining to CMS.  Christine brings that knowledge into her current position as a Recruiter of Alternative Licensure due to previous experience as a Licensure Case Manager.  She is excited to help identify and recruit teachers into Alternative Licensure from many rich and diverse backgrounds.
